Personnel

Dr. Daniel Lesnick is the owner and operator of Italy Adagio. He has owned and operated Italy Adagio since 1983. Fluent in Italian, he personally does all of the planning and arranging (hotels, guides, transportation, etc.), and personally escorts all Italy Adagio tours. Over the last thirty years he has taken more than 600 people (in 40+ small groups) on his tours of Italy. Many of his guests return for second, third, and fourth tours – and many of those bring their friends!

Having taught ancient, medieval, and Renaissance history for over thirty years, Dr. Lesnick retired from full-time teaching in 2008 and was honored as Associate Professor Emeritus by the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Lesnick also is a Lifetime Fellow of the American Academy in Rome, a past Fellow of the Harvard University Center for Italian Renaissance Studies in Florence, and twice winner of Fulbright fellowships to Italy. He has lived in Italy for over ten years since 1969, studying and conducting historical research on topics including Preaching in Medieval Florence, Criminal Activity in Medieval and Renaissance Todi, and Italian Microhistory. He combines his many years’ experience of living in Italy, scholarly expertise, and experience arranging and leading Italy Adagio tours to ensure that guests enjoy the best that Italy has to offer.

All of our tour escorts and guides are fluent in both English and Italian and are experts in the field with many years of experience, ensuring that our travelers enjoy maximum comfort and the most that Italian culture and life have to offer. Each escort and guide is personally chosen by Dr. Lesnick and works closely with him to fulfill the goals and philosophy of Italy Adagio.
